Membership
Membership in a B.C. credit union is defined by its common bond, which is set by the members and incorporated in its charter. CCEC's charter defines the following as eligible for membership;
- a co-operative or non-profit society;
- a group of five or more whose objectives fall within the principles of co-operation and operate within CCEC's statement of purpose;
- Individuals who are members of these organizations and their families;
- A community business operated by a CCEC member.

Equity Shares
The fundamental operating principle of credit unions is democratic ownership. As owners, all members have shares in CCEC as follows:

Co-operatives and incorporated community groups equity shares are $100.

Individual Adult members (age 26 & up) equity shares are $50.

Youth members (age 19 - 25) equity shares are $25.

Junior members (age 18 and under) equity shares are $5.
