Your credit union – shelter from the financial storm
CCEC Credit Union is not directly affected by the current market turbulence. Our deposits are from our members – we do not borrow from the financial markets. Our loans are to our members, and our loan delinquency has always been lower than the average for credit unions, which is already lower than many financial institutions.
CCEC has always maintained a healthy level of liquidity and capital, as a cushion for unsettled times. Our focus is on our members’ needs, not on profits. Our focus is on our community, not on financial markets. This will continue to drive our actions during this financial crisis. Your deposits with CCEC never lose value, unlike the stock market and mutual funds. And your deposits are insured by the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Commission. Click here for more information The friendly CCEC staff are awaiting your call! We can help you move your funds here. Call today for assistance: 604-254-4100 or 1-866-254-4100 .
NOTICE: CANADIAN TRAVELLERS TO FEEL IMPACT OF US ECONOMIC SANCTIONS
Millions of Canadians whose MasterCard charge cards were issued by credit unions are now being forced to abide by US economic sanctions that prevent use of the cards in several countries. Credit Union Electronic Transaction Services (CUETS), which issues MasterCards to credit unions and caisses populaires, was acquired by MBNA Canada Bank, the Canadian subsidiary of the Bank of America, last month. As a result, CUETS MasterCards will not work in Cuba, North Korea, Burma, Iran and Sudan.

• RE: ATM CHEQUE DEPOSITS: If you're depositing cheques to your account through the ATM, please check them carefully before doing so. As of August 2, 2004, if a cheque has been altered in any way, it will not be accepted for deposit through any ATM. This is true even if the change has been initialed. Any such cheques will be returned to us by the credit union whose ATM you deposit at, and a $5.00 service charge will apply. This change has been made due to the increasing numbers of altered cheques involved in debit card fraud.
A cheque cannot be accepted on deposit when:
• it is payable in foreign currency;
• it is drawn on a foreign financial institution;
• it has a double endorsement (payable to a third party);
• it is payable to cash;
• it is not preprinted;
• it has been materially altered, regardless of whether it has been initialed.
